According
to Dr.Vasundhara all languages are expressive mediums and the dialect
and grammar are essential for effective expression.
The proper approach to any language is first through the dialect and then
the mastering of grammar may follow. In the terms of Bharatnatyam, the dialect
consists of various techniques of expressions like Abhinaya. It is only
after achieving mastery over the technicalities of basic dance movements
like Adavus, Angashuddha and Theermanams that the learning of Bharatnatyam
becomes due and the Performance component.
Hence rigorous training in all aspects of Bharatanatyam technique is of
great importance. For such training schedule an interference-free and
serene atmosphere is essential to concentrate on the basic tenants of
Dance. The teacher- student ratio also becomes more important if the training
is to be effective and scientific.
Vasundhara Performing Arts would strive to provide precisely these ideal
conditions to aspiring students while imparting dance training. Besides
the training would be exclusively in the specialization of Bharatanatyam.
Lessons will be given by experienced performing artists endowed with deep
knowledge of both the dialect and grammar of the dance/music 3 Days a
Week under the supervision of Dr.Vasundhara Doraswamy herself.
Yoga
Vasundhara - who has recieved a Honorary Doctorate
for her exclusive study in Bharatanatyam and Yoga, is one of the first
students of the renowned 'Pattabhi Jois', and has been imparting the knowledge
since the beginning of the institute. Even though Yoga takes a backseat
to Bharatanatyam in VPAC, Vasundhara stresses on the importance of regular
'Yoga' for Physical and mental conditioning which is required to handle
today's demanding everyday life and Bratanatyam.
